A green wedding is really very simple.  At Rue 29 Napa Valley, our weddings are customized for each of our couples. Many of our clients live eco-conscious lifestyles and they want their commitment to the environment to be represented on one of the most important days of their lives.

Of the two million weddings every year in the United States, it is estimated they produce an average of 62 tons of carbon dioxide. That is mind-boggling! No wonder the green wedding movement has become so popular.

One of the most important decisions you will make about your wedding is selecting your vendor team. By hiring local green businesses, that incorporate environmental responsibility into their brand, you will decrease the footprint your wedding has on the planet.

By choosing seasonal, organic floral, herbs and wildflowers,  supplied from a local florist you will be greatly lowering your footprint. Some of our clients select low impact florals, such as succulents and air plants. These are easily replanted after the wedding, minimizing waste and allowing their flowers to grow at home after the wedding, or be repurposed by their florist for other events.

Your culinary decisions have a huge impact on the planet as well. Making the conscious decision to work with Chefs who source their ingredients in season from local and organic farmers is an excellent place to start.

Local, seasonal wedding favors are another creative green idea. Napa and Sonoma are home to some superb artisans. One of our favorite purveyors of welcome bags and wedding favors is FAVOR. A fun and simple wedding favor can be a pot of local, organic honey. Marshall Farms apiary, another family-owned business, produces organic walnuts and almonds as well, which make a delicious gift for your guests.

Wedding dresses are another area of consideration. You may choose to purchase a vintage, upcycled wedding dress or maybe you want to donate your wedding gown after the wedding.
